Penicuik Cricket Club - Junior Winter Training
Dear All,
As part of our winter programme we are arranging training/coaching for all juniors at Beeslack Community High School in Penicuik. These sessions will take place in the games hall and will start this Saturday 23rd February and will run each Saturday until Saturday 6th April, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. The sessions are for all ages from 5/6 to 15 and will be split in to 2 groups, one aimed at kwik cricketers (under 10s) who will not be playing hardball cricket and the other for the Under 13 squad who will be playing hardball cricket this season. That said any of the Under 15 squad who can attend are more than welcome and can train alongside the Under 13s (please note this is in addition to Under 15 practice taking place on a Tuesday evening). Initially we will run the 2 sessions at the same time, but depending on numbers, we may have to split the age groups to meet at different times for future weeks.
The practice will be run by myself and Neil Cameron (the Club Development Officer - who many of you will have met at the sessions during the February school holidays). We will also be assisted by 2 first XI players, Kris Steel, who is the 1st XI captain and Chris Ashforth, who is working as Active Schools Coach in Penicuik Primary Schools. We will possibly be helped by other 1st XI players on some of the Saturdays.
Please bring your cricket kit (bat, gloves, pads etc - if you have them, but not essential), but please note we will be NOT be practicing with hard balls. It is also advisable to bring a drink and a snack as we will be working hard, but there will be at least one break.
If you can only attend for part of the time don't let this put you off, you can join in (or leave) at any time. To cover the cost of hiring the hall we will charge a small fee of £1 per hour.
I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on Saturday.
Regards,
Richard
